Hello Green New Yorkers,

I just wanted to share the following letter I received from Ned Sullivan the president of the Scenic Hudson organization. If any of you have visited, or spent time in the Hudson River Valley area, you know how beautiful it is.

Scenic Hudson works to protect and restore the Hudson River and its majestic landscape as an irreplaceable national treasure and a vital resource for residents and visitors. A crusader for the valley since 1963, they are credited with saving fabled Storm King Mountain from a destructive industrial project and launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today with more than 20,000 ardent supporters,Scenic Hudson is the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley.Their  team of experts combines land acquisition, support for agriculture, citizen-based advocacy and sophisticated planning tools to create environmentally healthy communities, champion smart economic growth, open up riverfronts to the public and preserve the valley's inspiring beauty and natural resources.

Scenic Hudson has created or enhanced more than 50 parks, and preserves and historic sites for public enjoyment—including some in communities that previously had little or no access to the river.

Any donation you can make will help Scenic Hudson to continue its much appreciated work.

Thank you.

Pat Lewis, Founder/The Green New Yorkers Group

Dear Pat,

Thanks to your support. Scenic Hudson recently preserved some of the most important landscapes in our 47-year history:

  • 140-acre Popolopen Ridge -- the centerpiece of iconic Hudson Highlands vistas
  • One of our largest agricultural properties -- 378-acre McKeon Farms in Red Hook.

Falling real estate prices offer once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to ramp up our Saving the Land That Matters Most campaign and make more, historic "must-save" acquisitions. For this to happen, we're counting on your continued generosity.

Victories like these sustain the Hudson Valley's $4.7-billion tourism industry, protect essential wildlife habitat and make local produce available to 80 percent of NY's population. They're also critical to keeping our air and water clean and providing new places where children and families can connect with nature.

Help us keep on making a difference -- creating healthy, economically prosperous communities all along the river. Please consider supporting Scenic Hudson today with an online donation.
